State museum of History of Uzbekistan is one of the largest and old scientific and educational establishments of Central Asia. Its history developed for more than hundred twenty years. More than 250 thousand unique copies are stored in a museum. These are archival materials, and also monuments of ethnography, numismatics and archeology.
After independence of the Republic of Uzbekistan, collection of museum was replenished with new exposition that includes the latest developments and history researches, beginning from Stone Age till our days.
Exhibits presented in museum, are the proof that Uzbekistan is one of the most ancient centers of east civilization. History of Uzbek people, important stages of its formation are reflected in rare archival materials, photographic materials, historical documents, manuscripts and others.
Particular interest of visitors into a museum is caused by exhibits concerning era of Timurids. These exhibits show blossoming of civilization of the Middle Ages – architecture, sciences, book miniature, poetry and various crafts.
The most interesting models of writing, monetary circulation and craft can visually tell about stages of emergence and formation of ancient statehood.
Masterpieces of fine arts and craft illustrate material and art culture of Uzbekistan. In museum there also presented ethnographic materials, subjects of cult, ornament and product from bronze. Monuments of art collected in a museum, testify high level of ancient craft production.
