State Museum of Arts of Uzbekistan is one of the largest Central Asian museums. It was built in 1918 on base of very small collection of arts works which consisted of only five hundred exhibits. Collection together with painting and sculpture included bronze, porcelain and art furniture. There were Russian and West European works of art.
Exposition of Arts Museum is made by the most valuable exhibits of art of Uzbekistan of antique period and early Middle Ages. They are the works of jeweler art, carpets, embroideries, gold sewing, fabrics, stamping copper products, architectural decor and many others.
In expositions as far as possible there reflected unique and complex way of development and formation of graphics and painting of Uzbekistan, formed on extent of century and even more. In a museum it is possible to see works of S. Yudin, I.Bure, L.Kazakov, I.Karazin, B. Djalalov, R. Zommer, A.Volkov, R. Charyev, N. Karakhan, A.Abdullaev, A.Nikolaev, C.Akhmarov, U.Tansykbayev, D. Umarbekov, R. Akhmedov and others.
Magnificent works of art of India, China, Iran, South Korea and Japan, presented in a museum, show foreign art of the East. It is sculptural composition executed from stone, musical instruments, products from seladone, porcelain, collection of products from bronze, carved tree, carpets, ivory and other fine works of foreign eastern art.
In a museum there have been collected works of Russian art relating to 15-20 centuries. It is painting of the eighteenth century – works of V.Borovikovskiy, I.Nikitin, D. Levitskiy, F.Rokotov and others, and also a collection of icons.
Picturesque cloths of I.Ayvazovskiy, O.Kiprenskiy, G. Myasoedov, I.Levitan, A.Savrasov, I.Repin, A.Orlovskiy, V. Perov, A.Kuindji, L.Plakhov, I.Shishkin, N.Kramskiy, I.Ayvazovskiy and others represent art of the nineteenth century. In a collection of museum there kept works of known artists of the end of the nineteenth and the beginnings of the twentieth centuries. This is direction of Russian vanguard art –works of V. Kandinskiy, A.Benois, K.Korovin, R.Falk, A.Lentulov, K.Malevich, V.Serov and B. Kustodiyev.
In exposition of a museum there is also presented West European art. It includes works of applied and fine arts of England, Germany, France, Italy, Flanders, Holland, Spain and Netherlands.
